APHC expresses concern over the plight of detainees lodged outside

Srinagar, April 21 (KNS): APHC has greeted people of J&K on the coming holy month of Ramadan . It said as people of J&K are grappling with the Corona virus pandemic as well as with suspension of basic rights it prays that may the holy month bring an end to both.
A statement issued to KNS reads, APHC said that it is greatly concerned for the life and safety of political prisoners and youth locked up in jails in J&K and across India including in Tihar , Agra , Jodhpur and others. As the number of corona virus cases is rapidly rising in India, it makes these prisoners more vulnerable, especially the elderly and infirm among them. It said that these prisoners who are no criminals should be immediately released and send home to ensure their safety, also in view of the approaching holy month of Ramadan .
APHC said that it’s chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who is under arbitrary house arrest since 5 th August 2019 , along with all other leaders should be released.
APHC condemned the ongoing harassment of Kashmiri journalists and FIRs being filed against them in view of the report of an FIR filed against senior The Hindu correspondent Peerzada Aashiq and photojournalist Masarat Zehra . It said journalists are repeatedly pressurised and are reporting in very constricting environment, it said (KNS)
