Srinagar, May 05 (KNS): Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh Tuesday warned that anti-militancy operations will be intensified further across Kashmir till last militant is not eliminated from the soil. He added that security forces will not shy away from rendering sacrifices for ensuring peace in the region.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), DGP Singh spoke with media personnel at RTC Humhama on the sidelines of wreath laying ceremony of three CRPF personnel who were slain during a face-off with militants in Wangam, Kralgund area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday. During the exchange of fire, one civilian was also got killed.
DGP said that the militants took undue advantage of civilian movement in yesterday shootout and took shield of them in an orchard during which an unsound youth also lost his life in exchange of fire.
He paid rich tributes to forces personnel who laid their lives recently including those killed in yesterday’s shootout.
When asked about whether militants have intensified their attacks on security forces, DGP said we have some inevitable measures including strengthening of security arrangements and intensifying of anti-militancy operations across Kashmir.
“Security forces have been asked to be alert across, tight security arrangements have been put in place around vital security installations and onwards anti-militancy operations will be further intensified”, DGP Dilbagh Singh said.
When asked how come attacks on forces happened if security grid had earlier declared Baramulla a militancy free district, DGP said some infiltrators have succeeded to reach north Kashmir parts and have in contact with existing militants in Sopore area due to which some intermittent attacks took place.
He said “The militants who were neutralized in Chanjmulla area of Handwara were chased by security forces from three days. But unfortunately during the fire fight, we lost our five men including two army officers and sub-inspector rank officer of J&K Police”.
He added that security forces will not shy away from rendering sacrifices for ensuring peace in the region. “Security forces, for ensuring absolute peace in the region, have to bear losses in the form of killings of its men during anti-militancy operations”, DGP said.
He emphasized that anti-militancy operations will remain continue till last militant is alive on the soil. “We will continue to chase the militants till last militant is alive”, DGP said. (KNS)
