Srinagar, June 03 (KNS): Residents of Ananwan Hajin in north Kashmir’s Handwara town on Wednesday held a protest demonstration against Public Health Engineering (PHE) department and alleged the village is without drinking water since decades.

The resident told KNS that at a time when the whole world is suffering from the deadly virus, they are facing acute water crisis as the concerned department has failed to provide the potable drinking water to the area.

They said that if the water pipes in the area were installed few years back but still the pipelines are dry as the concern department never paid any attention towards the suffering of the people.

Sarpanch of the village said they would visit concern office regularly but got verbal assurance only form the concern officials. He further said they are being forced to fetch the water from pits where animals too drink the water.

Sarpanch said that during the “Back To Village Programme” they were assured that the water problem in the area will be resolved but still it is unresolved.

Ghulam Mohammad a resident of the area told KNS that coronavirus won’t kill them but unsafe drinking water will kills the residents surely. (KNS)
