Srinagar June:(KNS) The economy of Jammu and Kashmir has suffered massively due to the ongoing conflict. In a statement issued to KNS, reads one of the main sources of livelihood here are the rich Natural resources. In a recent development, the Government has given the sand excavation rights to some outsiders which has given birth to a new controversy in Jammu and Kashmir. One of the top political activists group has also lambasted the administration for the controversial move and has termed it an attack on Jammu and Kashmir's economy. In a join statement issued today, the activists including Basharat Hussain, Sheik Unis Amin and Malik Tariq Rashid have come heavily on the present administration led by Lieutenant Governor. "The Continuous strikes and consecutive shutdowns have severely dented the economy of Jammu and Kashmir. A landlocked and conflict zone have very less opportunities to explore its resources. Our rich natural resources figure among the top sources of livelihood. Advertising the tenders at such point of time when there was complete Internet shutdown in J&K and subsequently allocating the sand excavation rights to outsiders is a direct attack on our Economy. This in no way is acceptable", the statement reads.
On one hand the Central Government has come up with the novel 'Atma Nirbhar' concept and on the other hand, the same regime is virtually rendering thousands of people jobless and depriving them of their rights. There are thousands of families that are directly involved in the sand excavation business. You have left them all of a sudden jobless, the activists group added in their statement. "There is a clear and visible confusion in the policies of the Government vis-a-vis Jammu and Kashmir. The Prime Minister has himself promised that the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, now Centre led Union territory, will witness a new phase of development. Contrary to this, they take away the jobs of thousands of people. The general public is feeling they are being deprived of the basic rights to access to their very own resources, which cannot be denied as well", the press release further added. The activists in their press release issued to the media said, "The LG led administration should go for the cancellation of the bids/tenders advertised during the Internet blockade and the early intervention of the Prime Minister to end the confusions in Jammu and Kashmir is inevitable. Let the Prime Minister himself assure the people of J&K that he and his government stands committed to their stand that Jammu and Kashmir will touch the heights of development".(KNS)
