Resolution passed in high level meeting to fight against cultural onslaught

 

Srinagar September 14:(KNS) An extraordinary meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum was held here under the chairmanship of Abdul Qayoom Wani. The meeting was attended by all central and provincial officials. All the members of the Forum threw light on the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The Forum expressed concern over the rampant misdeeds in the society, drug abuse, bribery, alcohol policy, restrictions on expression, linguistic bias and resource and cultural exploitation. It was decided at the meeting that JKCSF would also raise voice against oppression, social, political, cultural, linguistic prejudice and cultural exploitation at all levels.

Forum Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani said “The new liquor policy was totally rejected in the meeting and it has been resolved that alcohol will not be accepted in Kashmir, the land of saints.”

The meeting expressed regret over the recent incident at Srinagar Airport and appealed to all parents to keep a close eye on their children so that they may not be involved in drug abuse and other social evils just to save our future capital .
Leading persons who expressed their views in the meeting included General Secretary Farooq Ahmed Trali, Deputy Chairman Nusrat Ahmed Baig, Spokesperson Farooq Ahmed Lone, Vice President Dr. Ghulam Nabi, Pushpinder Singh (Coordinator) Advocate Safir Ahmed, Advocate Owais Ahmed Legal Advisor Abdul Majid, Joint Secretary, Muhammad Ayub Secretary. Among the leaders who attended the meeting by phone were Mukhtar Ahmed Tantray Vice Chairman and Dilbar Hussain, Provincial President.

Besides, Hilal Ahmed Pare was among the officials who attended the meeting. Muhammad Rafi Sheikh. Shahid Riaz Khan, Dr. Wasif Noor, Riyan Baig and Muhammad Sultan Sopore.(KNS)
