Says government unmoved

Srinagar, September 12: Jammu and Kashmir Youth National Conference Provincial Vice President kashmir Ahsan Pardesi on Saturday expressed concern over the plight of youth in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the government was unmoved by their trepidation.
Ahsan while expressing concern over the plight of youth suffering on account of joblessness and closure spaces for pursuance of vocations said the government has turned volte face towards the issues concerning the youth of J&k. Far from providing jobs to youth of J&k as was promised by the ruling dispensation at the time of rising J&k’s constitutional status, the government has perversely been showing door to scores of employed youth working in various departments. “There is no denying to the fact that government sector is the principle employment avenue for our youth in J&k after agriculture, horticulture and its allied sectors. Due to the previous year’s clampdown, and the prevailing COVID-19 induced lock down economic activities have taken a huge hit. The administration has not come out with any package which could instill faith and help business community to start there business again. It has a direct bearing on youth as thousands have lost jobs because of prolonged shut down in kashmir, nothing substantial is being done to encourage youth. The promise of government to accommodate thousands of our youth in government sector has also turned out to be damp squib.
Ahsan also protested against the winding up of J&k self help group Scheme, saying the measure comes at a time when the government was claiming to give job opportunities to more youth. On the contrary the government is showing door to engineers by abolishing measures taken to accommodate youth. It is not just the individuals which will suffer on account of the imprudent measure, it is their families, the children especially which are at the receiving end of it.
There is no substitute to democratic government; the administration run by few big shots in the administration has failed on every conceivable matrix. Our youth are at cross roads, they don’t see any light at the end of tunnel. Where are they supposed to go? How are they supposed to provide for their families? Government has to answer this! The prevailing situation is alarming as far as the opportunities to our youth are concerned. The government on its part is unmoved ” he said.(KNS)
