Baramulla, June 14(KNS): In view of the current agricultural season, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo accompanied by various concerned officers today inspects various irrigation pump stations at Seer Jagir, Delina, Johama and at other places to get the appraisal of their situation.

On the ocassion, DC took a detailed review of the irrigation mechanism during which he emphasized for ensuring smooth and hassle free flow of water in the fields. He stressed for timely desilting of all the necessary canals so that the farmers may not face any inconvenience. He also called for formulating a viable mechanism by which the irrigation process is streamlined.

Meanwhile, DC met with the farmers who appraised him about various issues and grievances pertaining to agriculture during which he assured them that their issues shall be redressed as the agriculture sector is among the priority sectors of the administration. He also called for adopting all the modern and latest farming measures especially using High Yielding Varieties (HYV) of seeds for enhancing agricultural productivity. He reiterated the administration's commitment of providing every possible support to the farming community and said various initiatives are being taken for their welfare.(KNS)
