SK Sports Stadium Bandipora hosts first ever hockey match

Bandipora, December 03(KNS): Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir today Kick Started J&K Premiere League at SK Sports Stadium Bandipora.

The 15 days long tournament is being organized by District Youth Services and Sports Council in collaboration with the district administration during which several sports events viz Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi and Hockey shall be organised and top performing teams in each event shall be selected to play at JK level. Hockey is being played for the first time in Bandipora.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC said that the youth of Bandipora District have tremendous sports potential in them and they have proved it time and again. He said that the youth should engage themselves in various sports activities so that their mental and physical strength is enhanced. "The district administration is committed to provide every sort of support to uplift the sports infrastructure in the district", he added.

ADC termed the sports as a potential tool for overall personality development and said that Bandipora is endowed with enormous sports potential and appropriate platforms are required to channelize it in the positive direction.

While complimenting the participants, DC said that every possible assistance shall be provided for organizing more such events. He underlined the need to enthuse and popularize the sports activities at different levels so that more and more youth are involved in these activities.

A total of 6 football teams, 6 volleyball teams, 6 Kabbadi teams and 4 hockey teams are participating in the league. One team each from the respective game section will be selected on the basis of winning performance for the State level tournament.

General Manager SK Stadium Satinder Jeet Singh, Major Rohit Nair of 14 Rashtriya Rifles, members of J&K Football Association besides sports lovers from across the district were present on the occasion(KNS).
