Uri October 13, (KNS) In pursuance to its efforts to resume different sports activities amid COVID-19 pandemic, Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Mohammad Ahsaan Mir today inaugurated ‘Uri Football League’ in Sub Division Uri In presence of SDM Uri Reyaz Ahmed malik, SDPO Uri Junaid Wali, Principal BHSS Uri Jaleel Ahmed Being, Sports officer Javid Ahmad Budoo, sport officials and huge gathering of public.
The tournament has been organized by the Uri Star Football Club headed by Zulfkar Wathloo, Danish Bashir and Umair Noor.
On the occasion, the inaugural match was played between two local teams Uri star Junior FC v/s Shahid Memoriel FC,12 football teams more than 200 young players, are going to participate in the tournament.
The event is scheduled to be organized On league basis.
After kick-starting the event, the ADC Baramulla Mohammad Ahsaan Mir enlisted various initiatives that were taken by the district administration to promote sports culture in the district.

The Mir said that sports has a positive and constructive role in our social and psychological development adding that such events enables our youth to divert their attention towards positive pursuits. He also added that there is a need to provide appropriate platforms so that the potential of our youth is channelized in a better way.

He also emphasized that youth empowerment has been our priority.(KNS)
