Srinagar, Jan 19 (KNS): Physical Education Teachers appointed in 2009 in Youth Services and Sports department are awaiting their due promotion as Physical Education Masters despite the department having asked them to file their documents three times since 2014.
The Physical Education Teachers were appointed in the YSS department in 2009 and as per the rules their promotion was due in 2014.
PETs said that in 2014 they were asked to submit their verified documents for promotion.
“But due to floods, the department said that the documents were damaged and rendered useless. So, we filed the documents again after floods. But the promotion was not ordered as the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) did not sit for any meeting,” they said.
“In October last year, the department asked us to submit our files again as DPC was to be held. But our due promotion was not ordered,” they said.
On January 3, the Departmental Promotion Committee of Youth Services and Sports under the chairmanship of Director Youth Services and Sports Shiekh Fayaz Ahmed confirmed promotion of 230 Physical Education Teachers as Physical Education Masters.
Fayaz had said that the Department is committed to fulfill all the genuine demands of its employee.
However, the PETs said that the department is not “fulfilling its commitment about our genuine demands since 2014.”
They have appealed to the Youth Service and Sports minister, Imran Ansari and Director YSS Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad to expedite their process of promotion.? (KNS)
