Says education can play vital role in achieving this target

Srinagar, Mar 08 (KNS): Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) president and former minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir on Thursday said that empowerment of women is quite essential for the development and progress of society and that the target can be achieved by educating the woman folk.
Mir according to the statement issued to KNS was addressing a huge women convention on the eve of international Women's Day.
“Man-folk has also an important role to play as presently the society is male dominated,” Mir said, adding that “it’s we who have to take the lead, and let’s begin today.”
He said that men and woman are two pillars of the society and they should be treated equally.
He also condemned the Kathua rape and murder incident, saying that the issue should not be politicized and those involved in it should be dealt with strictly.
The convention was also addressed by G M Bawan, Sr Vice President, Provincial President Abdul Qayoum Bhat, Women's Wing President, Massarat Qadri, Youth President Muzafar Reshi, Suriya Akhter, Zainab etc. (KNS)
