Srinagar, Nov 10 (KNS): Withdrawal of key portfolios from three Advisors working for the last seven months has upset them as they were not consulted before changing their portfolios and allotting some of the portfolios to new Advisor K K Sharma.
Top sources while disclosing this to Kashmir News Service (KNS) revealed that withdrawal of key portfolios without their consent from three Advisors of Governor Khursheed Ahmad Ganai, B B Vyas and K Vijay Kumar has upset them as they were not even consulted on the change in their portfolios.
A top government official on conditions of anonymity said that the time when Governor Satya Pal Malik ordered the change in portfolios, Khursheed Ahmad Ganai was touring south Kashmir districts to take stock of the damages caused to apple orchards by recent snowing and B B Vyas was hearing people at a scheduled public grievance hearing session in Jammu.
Another Advisor K Vijay Kumar was also busy with the routine official engagements in winter capital Jammu.
The official said that all the three Advisors were surprised to see change in their portfolios when an order issued on behalf of the Governor by the General Administration Department was delivered to them.
“Though Governor can alone take the decision to redistribute or distribute the portfolios but there was nothing wrong to take the Advisors on board while taking the decision to redistribute the portfolios,” a top government official said.
It is in place to mention here that two days back National Conference General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar and Peoples Democratic Party Chief Spokesman Rafi Ahmad Mir had in their separate statements voiced concern and resentment against what they called “under representation of majority community of the state in Governor’s mini cabinet.”
Presently only two retired IAS officers of J&K cadre of the chief secretary rank in status are working as Governor’s Advisors and among the other two one is a retired IPS officer of non J&K cadre of the DGP rank in status and the other one hailing from Kathua district of Jammu division is a retired chief secretary of Delhi.
Interestingly the two Advisors Khursheed Ahmad Ganai and B B Vyas from whom key portfolios have been withdrawn are known for their conduct and work at senior positions upto the rank of financial commissioner and chief secretary for thirty long years but among the other two Advisors only K Vijay Kumar has worked as IGP BSF in Jammu and Kashmir.
Recently appointed Advisor K K Sharma has never worked in Jammu and Kashmir and is as such not acquainted with the challenges of administration in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
