With alarming rise in suicides, social evils, JKCSF meets in Srinagar to discuss contours

Srinagar July 31:(KNS) A daylong emergency meeting of working-body of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum was held at the Srinagar headquarters here under the chairmanship of Abdul Qayoom Wani. This vital meeting was attended by all central, provincial and district officials. Discussing the suicides, drug addiction, alcoholism, corruption, immorality waywardness and other forms of social evils in detail, the speakers expressed deep concern over and called the situation a grim concern. The meeting called on all sensible people to unite and adopt an effective strategy on a war footing to stop the social evils that have engulfed youth thus ruined the fabric of society. At the meeting, all the leaders of the forum unwieldy reiterated that the leaders of the JKCSF were merely social activists. In the meeting it was resolved that JKCSF is developing a strategy to meet religious scholars, student leaders, intellectuals, writers, journalists, lawyers, Doctors Association for a comprehensive program to develop a joint strategy to eradicate drug addiction, alcoholism, immorality and all other social evils. The meeting also expressed concern over the rising number of suicides. The meeting called on the government to take strict measures to curb drug menace and crack down drug traffickers at the grassroot level and said tha the JKCSF would support every step taken in this regard for the betterment of the society. 

Blood Donation Camp: The meeting passed a resolution in which it was decided that JKCSF will soon launch a blood donation camp with COVID in mind and JKCSF officials should fulfill their responsibilities by donating. 

Seminar: Post camp, a seminar will be organized in which all the sensible people of the society viz religious scholars, doctors, lawyers, intellectuals, writers, psychiatrists students will be invited to discuss the remedial measures and a sincere effort will be made to adopt a comprehensive joint strategy to curb the menace of misbehavior and waywardness amid drugs, alcoholism which lead to the suicides in the society.

The meeting discussed a strategy to strengthen the Civil Society Forum at district levels to make it stronger and stronger.

Among the leaders who highlighted various issues and problems in the meeting were Chief Patron Fayaz Ahmed Andrabi, Senior Vice President Nusrat Ahmed Baig, Vice President Mukhtar Ahmed Tantray, Chief Advisor Ghulam Qadir Dar, Senior Leader Ghulam Nabi Malik, Chief Spokesman Haji Farooq, and Convener, Ghulam Mohammad Shah, Chief Coordinator Ghulam Mohammad Mir, Central Coordinator Firdous Ahmed But, Coordinator Pir Abdul Hameed, Senior Leader Iqbal Shaheed, Senior Lander Mohammad Akbar, Senior Leader Farooq Ahmed Mir, Senior Leader Ali Mohammad Mir, Senior Leader Merajuddin, Senior Leader Bashir Ahmed, Senior Leader Abbas Sahib. At the meeting, Patron General Fayaz Ahmad Andrabi highlighted the role of Civil Society and said that Civil Society Forum has an important role to play in the present times and all its members should realize their responsibilities and address all social issues in accordance with the sentiments and feelings of the people. 

In the end, Chairman JKCSF Abdul Qayoom Wani appealed to all the leaders and members to use their personal influence to make the organization more active at the district level , BY playing part in eradicating ke corruption and in raising every issue and fulfilling every social program on the ground in line with the aspirations, feelings and sentiments of the people, and for a Civil Society to organize a blood donation camp soon. Prepare a list of blood donors and organize public awareness campaigns at the district level.
