Srinagar, May 26 (KNS): Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday visited the historic Jamia Masjid and also SMHS hospital to inquire the injured persons who had sustained injuries due to pellets on Friday clashes outside the Masjid.
Mirwaiz was accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik.
Mirwaiz while speaking to the gathering at Jamia Masjid said that the forces are being deployed indiscriminately around Jamia Masjid with an intention to deteriorate the situation there.
“The government is also committing atrocities on people. They knew that people are anguished over the atrocities they are committing but at the same time they deploy forces in every nook and corner of Jamia and turn it into the garrison,” he said, adding that the forces are being deployed to disallow people to offer prayers and to suppress people of the area.
“We will hit the streets in case the deployment of forces around Jamia Masjid won’t be lifted,” he said. (KNS)
