Srinagar, Jun 20 (KNS): Governor N N Vohra on Wednesday took over the head of the Jammu and Kashmir government as the President Ram Nath Kovind this morning approved the imposition of Governor’s rule in the State with immediate effect.
The Governor’s rule in the State was imposed a day after the three-year-long PDP-BJP alliance came to an end.
The BJP on Tuesday pulled out its ruling alliance with the regional Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, thus compelling the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to resign.
Later in the evening, Governor N N Vohra had written to president after holding deliberations with all the political parties in Jammu and Kashmir.
The President in this morning approved the imposition of Governor’s rule in the State with immediate effect.
Notably, Vohra is heading the state for the fourth time in recent past.
It is worth to mention here that Vohra is completing his 10 years as J&K Governor on June 25.
Meanwhile, immediately after receiving President of India’s approval, Governor issued the Proclamation to impose Governor’s Rule in the State under section 92 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir today.
Accordion to Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, Governor later held discussions with B.B. Vyas Chief Secretary this forenoon and identified the major tasks which shall require to be dealt with on a strict time bound basis, beginning from today.
To gear up the State administrative machinery to function with speed, efficiency and accountability the Governor spoke to senior officers of the Civil, Police, Forest and other departments as well.
The meeting was followed by a security review meeting at the Raj Bhavan in the afternoon, officials said. (KNS)
