Srinagar, Nov 24 (KNS): Dr Farooq Lone, Secretary Social welfare and Commissioner Disabilities Iqbal Lone met different delegations at Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities office Srinagar today.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Dr Lone stressed the need for strengthening the overall framework for rights of persons with disabilities in an interaction held at office of the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, the delegations which include J&K Handicapped Association lead by President Ab Rashid Bhat and Haemophilia Association, Disability Rights Society and many other activists and social workers met at CPWDs office Srinagar today.
These delegations applauded the efforts of His Excellency The Governor , The advisor to Governor Mr. Khursheed Ganie Sahib who was personally keen to get this bill enacted on priority including the Efforts of Chief Secretary J&K who ensured to put this bill in public domain and expedited the process of enactment.
Dr Lone besides this took the review of project formulation under Accessible India Campaign and UDID Project and status of SIPDA Scheme in which R&B Department J&K submitted DPRs for making twelve (12) government buildings at Srinagar Disabled friendly.
Commissioner Disabilities Iqbal Lone also appealed to the disabled community to register themselves at UDID portal to avail the UDID card and Disability certificate thereafter the benefits existing under different schemes particularly the social security schemes. (KNS)
