Director Health assures action, directs CMO Kupwara to submit report in 3 days

Srinagar, Jan 23(KNS): The quacks are at large in north Kashmir’s frontier district Kupwara, taking poor patients for a ride amid the slumber of the state health department.
According to KNS correspondent, various persons in Hadwara and Kupwara with degrees in Ayurvedic and Unani medicines have established full-fledged private hospitals wherein they prescribe unnatural medicines to the people suffering from various ailments.
Reports inform that even Orthopedic clinics have been established by these persons in the district where banned steroids are administered to the patients suffering from mild pain. “Even when mainstream medicos are reluctant to prescribe Steroids to the patients, these quacks are doing so without any care. When H1 drugs are prescribed to the people who suffer from mild back or knee pain,” a delegation of people from Handwara told KNS correspondent.
They added that those who have established the private health centers in the area posses BUMS and BAMS degrees and not are even mainstream doctors.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Saleem-Ur-Rahman told KNS that the department will take serious action against the involved. “I have asked the Chief Medical Officer Kupwara to conduct thorough probe into the matter and submit the Action Taken Report (ATR) to the Directorate of Health Services within the period of three days,” Director Health told KNS.
