Our pending demands should be addressed: Pampori

Srinagar, Nov 08 (KNS): The employees of Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, have threatened the government that they will go for strike on 13 and 14 November and protest in all Municipal Institutions of the Kashmir Division and on 15 Nov all the employees will assemble at Press Enclave for redressal of their pending demands.
President (J&KEUF), Manzoor A. Pampori told KNS that the employees, especially the lower class employees, of the department have all along been striving to provide basic civic amenities and other related services to the inhabitants of the state with utmost efficiency and dedication.
Pampori said that despite that their demands have not been addressed by the authorities till date.
He said that the Government recently transferred the Director, Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, to Srinagar Municipal Corporation without posting any substitute, rendering the department headless.
“Our service issues, matters are not being disposed off in the Directorate, leaving the employees high and dry,” he said.
He said that the employees recently held a convention where it was made clear that the employees of the Department will wait till November 11, 2017 for disposal of their pending issues and posting of a Director.
He said that the Forum during the General Council meeting on November 7 decided that on 13 and 14 November, there will complete strike and protest in all Municipal Institutions of the Kashmir Division and on 15 Nov all the employees will assemble at Press Enclave and proceed for a march towards the Divisional Commissioner office, where a Memorandum of demands will be handed over by the President.
“In case the pending demands already submitted to the Government are not redressed, the Employee’s Forum will have no other option left, but to halt the services in all Municipal Bodies of the Kashmir Division alongwith the Directorate and to proceed for peaceful protests, strike for redressal of their pending genuine issues from 13 November, with full support from EJAC (Q) headed by Abdul Qayoom Wani & Srinagar Municipal Corporation headed by Mohd Maqbool Malik.,” he said.
