Police says identity of militants being ascertained

Srinagar, Sep 25 (KNS): Two militants were killed in an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Tujjar Shareef area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Officials said that a joint search operation was launched by police and forces during the preceding night.
They said that the search operation was launched on credible inputs about the presence of militants at Nowpora area of Tujjer in Sopore.
“During the searches, hiding militants fired on the search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter,” police said, adding that in the ensuing encounter two militants were killed.
Police spokesman said that the identity of the slain militants is being ascertained. “Some arms, ammunition and incriminating material have been recovered from the site of encounter,” he said.
He said that police has registered a case in this regard while as the investigation has been initiated in the instant matter. (KNS)
