Two drug peddlers booked under PSA in Handwara : Police

Srinagar, Mar 21 (KNS): Handwara police on Saturday said two drug peddlers were booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Handwara town .

A police spokesman in a statement said, “Police in Handwara booked 02 notorious drug peddlers under Public Safety Act after obtaining sanctions from the concerned authorities.”

“They have been identified as Abdul Hameed Rather, of Amagrah Tarathpora and Parvaiz Ahmad Malik of Daril payeen ” he said.
“ Handwara police had earlier recovered huge quantity of banned drugs from them and were booked under NDPS Act.

It is pertinent to mention here that under the provisions of Sec 3 of Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1988, a person engaged in Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances , which poses a serious threat to the health of a person and Society can be detained upto maximum period of one year.
Handwara Police has arrested as many as 15 notorious drug peddlers in different NDPS cases in the last one month.
Handwara Police is committed to continue it's war against the drug peddlers and sought co-operation of people in curbing social evils especially drug abuse to save the youth from this fatal addiction the statement said.
Meanwhile the locals of the area have hailed the SP Handwara Dr G.V Sandeep for strict action against the drug peddlers in the area (KNS)
