Tral, Jul 26 (KNS): The locals in several areas in Aripal Tehsil of Tral are up in arms against Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to restore water supply scheme and filtration plant in the area.

Locals told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the water supply scheme and filtration plant in Hajan area of Aripal Tral lies defunct due to which they have to consume contaminated water which may result disease break-out in the area.

They said that areas like Satoora, Hajin and Sofigund continued to face inconveniences in absence of potable water with no intervention from the authorities concerned.

They demanded immediate intervention of PHE officials in restoring the water supply scheme as well as filtration plant in the area.

Meanwhile, AEE, PHE, Tral, when contacted, told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that soon after he received grievance, a team was immediately sent to the area.

He further said that efforts to restore the water supply scheme in Hajin is going on with full pace. (KNS)
