Traffic police drive against wrong parking in city yields positive results

Srinagar, Dec 27 (KNS): As traffic police have cracked a whip against wrong parking in Lal Chowk and its adjoining areas since the last few days on the directions of the High Court, problem of frequent traffic jams in the city has been curbed to some extent.
Reports said traffic police have seized hundreds of cars and two-wheelers in the recent days, which were parked at wrong places. Most of the shopkeepers and customers were parking their vehicles on roads which was creating hurdle in the smooth flow of the traffic.
A traffic police official told KNS that wrong parking in Lal Chowk, Residency Road, M A Road, Exchange Road, Regal Chowk, Polo View, Hari Singh High Street and other areas was the main reason for gridlock in the recent weeks.
“Even in civil lines areas wrong car parking is creating traffic jams. We have launched a drive against the wrong parking in the city and results are before everybody,” he said and added the drive will continue in coming days and people violation traffic laws will be booked.
Asked why police was not taking action against street-vendors, who have occupied footpaths and portions of roads in the city, the official said, “It is the job of Srinagar Municipal Corporation. Police’s job is to streamline the traffic.” (KNS)
