Asks transporters to charge half fare to students

Srinagar, Feb 24 (KNS): As the schools are going to open after winter vacations, the Traffic Police Srinagar City on Saturday issued advisory for the transporters, asking the bus operators to charge only half passenger fare to students.
“All stage carriage transporters; be a Private Operators or State Road Transport Corporation comprising of big buses and medium buses shall charge only half passenger fare in respect of students travelling from their residential place to the location of their Educational Institution and back once in a day,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic City Srinagar, Tahir Saleem said in a statement issued to KNS.
He said that the student however, needs to produce a bona-fide and valid identity card of the institution in which he/she is studying. “Necessary action shall be taken against the violator transports under Motor Vehicle Act and Govt notification issued vide No. 05 P/MVD of 2017 dated 22.06.2017 if reported,” he said.
