Events, drone visuals go live on social networking site for promotion

Srinagar, Feb 14 (KNS): Changing the dynamics of marketing and promotion, the department of tourism in just short span of over one year has aggressively marketed tourism sector through its social media handles gaining over 2 lac likes on its facebook page.
The drone videos of various destinations have received overwhelming response from both locals and the tourists presenting the breathtaking aerial visuals of the Kashmir’s bewitching landscape.
In one of its biggest ever tourism promotional campaigns, the department released a five minute shot film ‘Warmest Place on Earth’ which was posted on social media on 23 September, 2017 garnering millions of accumulated views in just one day.
The movie has crossed over 20 millions views so far projecting Kashmiri people as the hospitable and lovable.
The department also has started posting its events and festivals live on its social media giving followers and viewers a real time experience.
The department on its social media especially facebook page also provided live feed of the Adnan Sami “Rhythm in Paradise” concert held in Srinagar on October 8, 2017 which enthralled his audience with his melodious voice.
This was the first time that the department went live on facebook attracting huge viewership across globe. The concert also sent a strong message outside the state that Kashmir is not a dead place for tourists.
The department had to bring technical experts from outside the state for providing the live broadcast on facebook. That department has however become competent enough to put all its event live on its social media handles.
With Valley receiving fresh snowfall on Monday, the department again went live showing the footages of snowfall in the Srinagar city to its followers.
The department also put on live avalanche awareness talk held on Tuesday by its snow safety officer Brian Newman at Gulmarg which was watched by thousands of the followers especially skiers who received valuable information on snow avalanches on facebook. On Wednesday, the department for the first time telecast live aerial view of the snow-draped Pahalgam from drone on facebook attracting huge followers. The department is organizing 2-day festival at Pahagam from February 17.
Director tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah said the videos on social media are instant hit and is an important tool for the promotion of tourism in the modern world when mobile phone penetration is increasing every day.
“We have broadcast live many events in the past on our facebook page which has received overwhelming response. We will also go live with our forthcoming events in the state or out of the state to promote our place through real time,” said Director Tourism Kashmir.
