DGP says two bodies, weapons recovered from encounter site

Srinagar, Aug 29 (KNS): A top Hizb commander among two militants were Wednesday killed in an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Muniward area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Police identified the two slain militants as Hizb Commander Altaf Ahmad Dar alias Kachroo and Umar Rashid Wani of Khudwani.
After specific inputs about the presence of militants, a joint operation was carried out in Muniward area near Khanabal during which the hiding militants fired upon them, thus ensuing the gunfight, officials said.
They said that in the encounter Altaf Kachroo the top HM militants among the two were killed.
The state police also said that the top HM commander was wanted since 2012 for series of crimes.
Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid in his tweet confirmed that the two bodies of slain militants were recovered while as the two weapons were also recovered fom the encounter site.
He also called the gunfight as ‘a clean operation with precision’. (KNS)
