Three mishaps on Sgr-Jmu highway leaves 10 people dead

Srinagar, Mar 02 (KNS): At least ten persons died while over three dozens were injured in three separate mishaps on Srinagar-Jammu highway from Friday evening after the vehicles they were travelling in met with accident in Udhampur, Kishtwar and Ramban district.
According to KNS correspondent, a lady among six passengers died while over 35 persons were injured after a vehicle they were traveling in met with an accident and fell into a deep gorge in Udhampur district on late Friday night.
Officials said a bus was heading towards Jammu from Srinagar when it skidded off the road and fell down into a deep gorge near Chaner area of Majalta in Udhampur district.
They said the rescue operation was launched soon after the mishap occurred and shifted the injured persons to GMC Jammu for treatment.
Officials added five of the passengers died on spot while other succumbed to his injuries at hospital, taking the death toll to six.
Similarly, in another mishap that occurred in Kishtwar district, at least three persons died while three others sustained injuries after the vehicle they were traveling in fell into a deep gorge at Dadpeth-Mugalmaidan in Kishtwar district in this morning. Officials said the vehicle heading towards Kishtwar when the accident took place.
In the third similar mishap, a driver died after his truck collided with another in Ramban district on Srinagar-Jammu highway in this morning.
They identified the deceased driver as Gurdev Singh of Jammu. (KNS)
