Condition of many teachers critical, silence of Govt shameful: Qayoom Wani

Srinagar, Sep 19 S(KNS): State wide indefinite chain hunger strike under the banner of Teachers Joint Action Committee (TJAC) entered in 17th day at Pratap Park Srinagar and 21st day in press club Jammu where people from all walks of life besides large number of Teachers are attending hunger striking teachers on both the venues for solidarity.
Abdul Qayoom Wani, president Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) and chairman Teachers Joint Action Committee while addressing the teachers condemned the delay delaying policies of the government. Due to continuous hunger strike the condition of many teachers is critical and the Silence of the government on the pathetic condition of teachers is shameful and highly condemned.
Wani while speaking with hunger striking teachers and media persons that teachers are not asking for stars from the sky they have been deprived form the benefit of 7th pay commission which is their legitimate right, part of salary.
He said that such type of attitude with the builders of nation compels them to opt the path of agitation. Wani said that stopping salary or irregularities in the payment of salary to any employee is gross violation of CSR and employees right which will be never tolerated and will be fought in tooth and nail in all circumstances.
EJAC President said that government should stop to test the patience of builders of nation any more otherwise government will have to face the brunt of five lac employees of the state and the responsibility shall lie on the shoulders of the government.
He urged upon the teaching fraternity to be united with the discipline, commitment, courage and be ready to face any challenge/difficulty pressure tactics of the government for redressal of their genuine grievances particularly the implementation of 7th pay commission in favour SSA teachers,head teachers, RMSA masters and head masters at an earliest besides regulating their salaries by linking that with state sector.
Wani demanded immediate intervention of Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and advisors, chief secretary and secretary education in this sensitive issues so that builders of nation will have a sigh of relief and couas and confusion in the department of education may end.
Otherwise TJAC will intensity its agitation besides chain hunger strike.
