Condemns Kulgam killings

Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNS): People’s Democratic Party has expressed serious concern over the unabated civilian killings in various parts of Kashmir valley. Strongly condemning the killing of civilians in Laroo village of Kulgam district during an anti militancy operation today, PDP Chief Spokesperson Rafi Ahmad Mir has warned the government of India of shunning it’s iron fist response to every situation here.
Terming that militaristic approach of an elected government will further alienate the people and it’s a mockery of democratic values when a day after results of sham elections, brutality is unleashed on civilians.
Mir urged for initiation of dialogue process and re implementing unilateral ceasefire which the People’s Democratic Party had proposed in the month of Ramazan. Mir said that CBMs like the Ramazan Ceasefire had some meaning and carried propensity of addressing the deteriorating situation on ground, however Government of India’s myopic vision of taking Kahsmir as a development issue and subsequently handling operations without SoPs casts a bad reflection on overall political atmosphere.
Mir said that there is an urgent need to end the ongoing violence as the Kashmir. Both Central and state Governments should honestly engage youth in a meaningful dialogue and for that they must first restore faith of people and that cannot certainly happen under the shadow of gun. (KNS)
