Jammu, Feb 04 (KNS): In Sunday's all party meet chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti herself to take the final decision on the conduct Panchayat polls in the state the Congress, ruling Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) and People's Conference (PC) have advised the government to take a final decision keeping in view of the current security scenario in Kashmir.
Talking to KNS the senior Congress leader Gh Nabi Monga said "we told the Chief Minister to take a decision in view of the security scenario in Kashmir. If government could not hold parliamentary by elections in South Kashmir how come the government is finding the atmosphere conducive to holding of panchayat polls in the state'.
Senior PDP leader and party's General Secretary Rafi Ahmed Mir told KNS "the security scenario and the upcoming tourist season are the priorities for the PDP. The interest of the people to participate in the elections is equally important for the conduct of panchayat polls.
The government has heard all the mainstream opposition parties and will take an appropriate decision on panchayat pills in the state".
Peoples' Conference representative at the All party Meeting Advocate Bashir Ahmad Dar the incumbent MLA from Kupwara told KNS "the security scenario and the interest of the people in the participation of the polls have to be taken into consideration in taking a final decision on the conduct of panchayat polls in the state".
