Srinagar, Oct 12 (KNS): Amid strike by the vital information department employees after Joint Director Zahoor Ahmad Mir was attached over allegations of irrational distribution of advertisements to the print media, Tasaduq Mufti Coordinator of Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell said that issue will likely be resolved within two days and the officer should not have been attached.
“I think confusion has cropped up due to streamlining of the advertisement by the Information department about departmental formalities,” Tasaduq told KNS.
He said that it is difficult when such an important department gets defunct.
“If there is any confusion, it will be clear after investigations. I think the employees should resume their duty,” Tasaduq told KNS.
“He (Joint Director) should not have been attached. I think some confusion has got created. Some decisions about administrative matters should be re-considered. We will try to address any issue in a formal manner after due procedure,” he said in reply to a question.
He said that the Committee formed by the grievance cell has not yet submitted any report. “It will submit a detailed report after proper investigation,” he said.
The employees of the Information and Public Relations (DIPR) employees are on an indefinite strike from the last two days demanding revocation of attachment of a joint director by the government.
The government had on Wednesday attached the department's Joint Director (Kashmir) Zahoor Ahmad Mir, pending an enquiry into alleged irrational distribution of advertisements among the print media.
A spokesman of the Information Department Employees Union said the DIPR offices in Kashmir and Jammu divisions would remain shut till the attachment order of the joint director is revoked.
The employees staged a sit-in on the premises of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations here.
The spokesman said the union is not against an enquiry, but attaching an officer without any proof is uncalled for.
“He (Mir) should not have been attached without having any proof. We are not against the enquiry. But he should be allowed to work as a joint director till the enquiry is completed. He is being punished without any proof,” he said. (KNS)
