Srinagar-Ladakh Highway resumes one way vehicular movement

Ganderbal November 27 (KNS):The 434km long Srinagar-Ladakh highway Which was closed due to adverse weather conditions has been reopened for one-way traffic.

Talking to KNS, IGP Traffic Kashmir, T Namgyal Said, as a result of the snowfall on November 23, authorities closed the 434-km Srinagar-Ladakh highway for precautionary measures,hundreds of passengers and freight vehicles were stranded at various places in Kargil, Dras and Sonamarg.

"To make the highway passable, Project Wajik and Border Road Organization completed the work of removing snow from the highway on an emergency basis, after which 200 military vehicles were dispatched from Dras and Gomri to Sonamarg today",he added.

Meanwhile he also said that, if the weather remained clear and the road would not be slippery tomorrow, vehicles would be allowed to travel from Sonamarg to Kargil tomorrow(KNS).
