104 autorickshaw drivers booked, 10 seized

Srinagar, Mar 07 (KNS): Traffic Police City Srinagar claimed to have booked 104 autorickshaw drivers and seized 10 autorickshaws.
According to the statement issued to KNS, “Autorickshaw drivers have to install mechanical digital meter (a digital meter in working condition showing fare & distance or an electric digital meter, which in an opinion of the Transport Commissioner complies with the provisions of Rule 151 Motor Vehicle Act.) and have to wear “Khaki uniform or grey shirt & Khaki pent depending upon the choice as conveyed by Transport Commissioner J&K Srinagar vide notification No. TC/JK/MV/2007/2700 dated 13.06.2007.”
“In order to make sure that Autorickshaw drivers install mechanical digital meter and wear proper uniform; Traffic Police City Srinagar yesterday on 06th of March-2018 held a special drive and booked 104 Autorickshaw drivers for plying without mechanical digital meters and seized 10 Autorickshaws without documents,” the statement said.
The statement added that out of the 104 booked autorickshaws 88 were fined and 16 were given court challan and a fine to the tune of Rs. 9600/= were collected from the violators.
“All the Autorickshaw drivers have to install mechanical digital meter and have to wear a proper uniform as per the Transport Commissioner & State Transport Authority J&K Srinagar notifications, otherwise legal action under law against the violators shall continue,” they said. (KNS)
