Slapping of PSA on NC, PDP leaders belies govt's normalcy claims in Kashmir: Tarigami

Srinagar, Feb 06 (KNS):  Senior CPM leader and Fomer MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami  on thrusday while reacting to the reports of J&K administration's decision to slap Public Safety Act (PSA) on National Conference (NC) general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar and PDP leader Sartaj Madni, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said these acts itself belie government's normalcy claims in Kashmir.

In a statement to KNS Tarigami said ,for which crime the two leaders, who are undergoing detention along with three former chief ministers and numbers  of the political leaders and activists for the last six months, have been slapped with the PSA?

On one hand government of India claims that normalcy has been restored in Jammu and Kashmir post its unilateral decision to scrap J&K's special status under Article 370 in August, while on the other senior political leaders are being slapped with the PSA and former CM's continues to remain under detention.

This is mockery of the government's claims and contrary to what is being said in the Parliament. The J&K administration recently announced that it will hold elections for those Panchayat seats which remained without polls in 2018. Everybody knows the credibility of those elections. But now the elections for these seats are being held at a time when the leaders are being slapped with the PSA (KNS)
