‘Let government clear its stand, will take final decision accordingly’

Srinagar, Sep 12 (KNS): Even as the state government claimed to is committed over the conduct the polls in the state, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Tuesday asked the government to clear it stand, saying that the confusion and chaos has been created over the conduct of Panchayat and Municipal elections.
According to the KNS correspondent, JKPCC chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir who along with scores of party leaders including CWC member Tariq Hameed Karra, MLC G N Monga, Taj Mohi-ud-din, Muhammad Anwar Bhat and Khem Lata Wakhlu addressed media persons here at party headquarters, said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is not conducive or the polls.
He said that the administration as well as the government of India seems confused over the conduct of polls in the state, thus creating chaos and uncertainty across Jammu and Kashmir.
Mir said that the congress’s state unit is also going to depute a team to New Delhi where they will held discussions over the conduct of polls and will also brief the party high command over the ground situation. “The decision over the participation in Panchayat and Municipal polls will be taken by the party high command accordingly,” he said, thus keeping the decision over party’s participation reserved.
Replying to a query, he claimed that the situation is not conducive for the polls, saying that decision over the conduct was taken without taking stock of the ground situation. “Let government come clear whether they are going to hold polls or not,” he asked.
The JKPCC chief further added that a delegation led by him met with the Governor Satya Pal Malik and discussed various issues but it seems that since last evening, the government is confused over the conduct of polls. He said that the chaos is being witnessed among the administration following the visit of BJP leader Ram Madhav to the Valley. Mir further said that they are watching the situation closely.
He said that the party held several deliberations with the representatives over the situation following which it was decided that a team of senior leaders will be deputed to New Delhi who will brief the party high command over the situation, who will later take a final call over the participation in the exercise.
Mir while reacting over the election boycott announced by NC and PDP stated that the every party has a right to take any decision.
However, he said that linking Panchayat and Municipal elections with the hearing on the Article 35-A in the Supreme Court by the government was erroneous.
Meanwhile, Karra who also replied to a question during the presser claimed that there was no clarity from the government side over the conduct of Panchayat polls, terming it as ‘crises of confidence’.
He asked the government to establish confidence over the conduct of polls, saying that the congress as national party will take a decision responsibility, providing the confidence will be established. (KNS)
