Srinagar, Nov 30 (KNS): President Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Qayoom Wani Thursday showed serious concern over the unwarranted closure of SRTC Yard and its office at Tees Hazari in Delhi.
According to KNS, Wani said that SRTC is working from 1966, operating safe bus services from Srinagar to Delhi. Students, businessmen, tourists, traders and patients from J&K State are the beneficiaries of this safe transport service.
Wani said that Supreme Court of India has directed the Central Govt. in 1998 to provide alternate space for JKSRTC Yard in New Delhi but till date neither Central Govt. nor State Govt. have taken any initiative regarding the issue and at present the Delhi High Court has ordered for closure of this yard and the authorities of SRTC are being compelled to vacate the land which will add more difficulties to business class, students and other beneficiaries of this safe service besides it will add worries and difficulties to the employees of SRTC.
He condemned the silken of State Govt. over the issue. He described the protest of SRTC employees of this issue justified and asked the authorities of SRTC not to shift the yard from Tees Hazari Delhi until and unless, equivalent and suitable alternate space will be provided for the corporation by Delhi Govt.
Wani assured SRTC employees and its union for full support and cooperation over this issue.
He also urged upon Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to take up this issue with the Central Govt. so that SRTC, its employees and beneficiaries of this corporation may not suffer any more. (KNS)
