NC leaders visit GMC, border areas; express solidarity with sufferers

Jammu, Jan 20 (KNS): Senior National Conference leaders on Saturday visited Government Medical College Hospital here and enquired about the condition of border dwellers, injured in the wake of shelling from across the Line of Control and International Border in the Jammu region.
NC Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, accompanied by State Vice President Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed and Pradeep Bali went round various wards and expressed solidarity with the injured and their families. They were told by the attendants of the injured about the grim and latest border scenario, saying the residents were living under perpetual threat.
Dr Kamal wished speedy recovery to the injured and said that National Conference shares the pain and agony of the residents of forward areas, who were braving the brunt of shelling with fortitude and resilience.
The National Conference leaders expressed grief over the deaths and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families. They also prayed for peace to the departed souls.
MLAs Javed Rana and Dr Kamal Arora besides Sr State Vice President Surjeet Singh Slathia, former minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, State Vice Presidents Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Shah Bukhari and Th Kashmira Singh, State Secretary Th Rachpal Singh and Youth National Conference Provincial President Ajaz Jan have also expressed deep concern and anguish over the continuous shelling, resulting in death of innocent people besides livestock and damages to residential dwellings.
Expressing solidarity with the border sufferers, the National Conference leaders have sought safe shelter sheds and other facilities for those displaced due to shelling. They have particularly demanded medicare facilities and stationing of ambulances and mobile medical teams at vulnerable place in the forward areas.
They conveyed condolences to the families who lost their dear ones and prayed for peace to the departed souls.
Surjeet Singh Slathia has been visiting the border areas for the past two days. Interacting with the sufferers in various villages of Ramgarh Sector, which has witnessed heavy shelling during the past few days, Slathia expressed dismay over lack of facilities in the vulnerable areas.
Meanwhile, Provincial Vice President Gurdeep Singh Sasan extensively visited R. S Pura and shared the agony of the sufferers. He demanded safe shelter sheds for the displaced people with all necessary arrangements, keeping in view the prevailing winter conditions in the entire border belt.
Gurdeep Singh Sasan took up the issue related medicare facilities in the affected areas with senior officers, including Director Health Services, and sought deployment of special teams to meet the situation. (KNS)
