Tanghdar (Kupwara), Dec 16 (KNS): A drug de-addiction programme was organised in border area of Tanghdar in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday.
The programme was organised by local civil society in which police, army, tehsil level officers and school children participated. The programme was organised days after police recovered huge quantity of brown sugar from the area.
A member of the organising civil society told KNS the aim of the seminar was to make younger generations aware about the disadvantages of drugs.
Speaking on the on the occasion army commander briefed the people about the hazards of drugs.
On the occasion students of Girls Higher Secondary School, Tanghdar performed cultural programmes, singing and speeches competitions in which they stressed on the youths to stay away from drugs.
The people of the area appealed the police to take strict action against the drug peddlers. (KNS)
