Says India brought Kashmir issue to Security Council through Art 35

Srinagar, Aug 09 (KNS): Awami National Conference (ANC) president, Khalida Shah on Thursday said that India brought the issue of disputed Kashmir to Security Council through the basic document Article 35, which today is called Article 35-A.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah as per the chief spokesman, Haroon Qureshi said that at a time when the attempts are being made to abrogate the Article 35-A through the Supreme Court then the Security Council is also becoming the stake holder of the case as the Kashmir issue was brought to the council though this constitution.
She said that it was Article 35-A which also defended the Amritsar agreement of 1846 and Delhi agreement of 1952.
Shah further said that inspite of Article 370 it was earlier Article 306A, which was rejected under the leadership of Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah in the year 1951. “The Article 306 A provided complete merger of State to the union of India but the Sheikh Abdullah then threatened to resign from the assembly following which Article 370 was given existence,” she added.
