School of humanities, liberal arts, CLUJ organises two day workshop

Jammu, Mar 26 (KNS): School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, CLUJ organized a two day workshop on “Language and Linguistics” on 25th March 2019 and “Literary Analysis: Theory and Practice” on 26th March 2019.

During the two day workshop, reputed academicians deliberated on various aspects of Linguistics and Literature like Phonetics, Semantics, Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Literary Theories, Literary Analysis, etc. The purpose of the workshop was to acquaint the students with the recent trends in literary studies and linguistics and to provide them with the platform to hone their literary acumen.

Dr. Geetanjali A. Rana, Dean Faculty of Arts inaugurated the workshop and highlighted the significance of such academic workshops to upgrade the multiple skills of young learners. Dr. Reena Salaria, Coordinator PGI Linguistics welcomed the distinguished guests and introduced the theme of workshop. About 140 students from PGI English Honours and PGI Linguistics participated in the workshop.

Ishita Mahajan from IIT Jammu, Prof. Veena Gupta, Former Head Department of Dogri, University of Jammu, Prof. Shashi Pathania, Former Head Department of Dogri, University of Jammu were the Resource Persons for the Linguistics Workshop.

On the second day of the workshop, Dr. Twinkle Suri, Coordinator PGI English Honours and Dean Students Welfare, CLUJ welcomed the Resource Persons - Dr. Vandana Sharma, Head, Department of English from Central University of Jammu, Prof. Monika Sethi, Head, Department of English, University of Jammu, Prof. Sucheta Pathania from Department of English, University of Jammu. The resource persons deliberated on the themes ranging from Drama, Poetry to Literary Theories.

The Valedictory Ceremony of the workshop was presided by Prof. Poonam Dhawan, Dean Academic Affairs, CLUJ. She interacted with the students and stressed on the need for such meaningful workshops to enhance the knowledge horizons of the blossoming scholars.

Dr. Jatinder Khajuria, Registrar, Cluster University of Jammu was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. He emphasized that holistic research aptitude should be developed among the students to make the university a hub of research and innovation.

Prof. Mushtaq Lone, Controller Examination, CLUJ, Prof. S.P Sharma, Dean Sciences, CLUJ and Prof. P.K Sharma, Principal Govt. MAM College also graced the occasion.

Dr. Banpreet Kour, Dr. Jyoti Dutt, Department of English and Dr. Eva Sharma and Dr. Indu Sharma from School of Arts coordinated the event. (KNS)
