Srinagar, Jul 17 (KNS): In continuation of its sanitation drive, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Tuesday conducted dust free drive at Batamallo area here.
Notably, the extensive sanitation is being conducted in a phased manner on the directions of Commissioner SMC, Riyaz Ahmed Wani across the city.
Under the supervision of Chief Sanitation Officer, Sufi Mohammad Akbar, an extensive dust free drive was conducted from Batamaloo to Golf Course near TRC which involved more than hundred 50 sanitary workers of the corporation.
“The clean up dusting machines put to task cleared dust off the roads during the drive,” the statement issued to KNS said.
Besides cleaning and washing of footpaths, all the unwanted grass was trimmed with the grass cutters by the men on job.
Also, an extensive sanitation drive was conducted in Lal Bazaar, Hawal, Harisingh High Street, Goni Khan, Mahraja Bazaar, Naaz crossing.
Meanwhile, as per the statement, an anti-encroachment drive was simultaneously taken up by encroachment wing in the said areas.
The team confiscated all the goods and articles illegally displayed on roads and footpaths during the drive.
Commissioner SMC has strictly passed on directions that there should be no break in continuity of these anti encroachment and extensive sanitation drives. These drives had to be an everyday affair till desired results are achieved. (KNS)
