Srinagar, Dec 28 (KNS): As politics over Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) mayor and deputy mayor has reached to crescendo in the last few days, people living in the city have complained that municipal authorities have failed to clear the garbage from different areas.
Earlier this week, a no-confidence-motion was moved against mayor Junaid Mattu and deputy mayor Sheikh Imran. While Imran was removed during the floor test, the motion against Mattu was latter withdrawn.
However, city residents complained that amid the politics being played over mayor and deputy mayor posts, the municipal authorities have forgotten their basic job. “In our area the garbage has not been cleared from the last week. Heaps of garbage are lying on roads, but municipal workers are nowhere in sight,” said Waseem Ahmad, a resident of old city.
Similar complaints were received from the other areas of the city. (KNS)
