Srinagar, Oct 10 (KNS): Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shopian on Saturday celebrated World Egg Day in collaboration with Directorate of Extension, SKUAST - Kashmir and Social Welfare Department, Shopian on a virtual platform with the greetings Happy World Egg Day. “Eat your egg today and everyday” was the theme for today’s celebrations. Scientists, college/school teachers, social welfare workers, farmers and industry people participated in the Webinar. The event celebrations highlighted the importance of eggs as a vital component for human nutrition. Prof Azmat A Khan, Associate Director Research (Animal Sciences) threw light on the “Incredible Egg: Its composition and human health benefits”. He also satisfactorily answered the questions of the participants during the interactive session. Prof Masood S Mir, Associate Director Extension (Animal Sciences), Dr Parmeet Singh, Head of the Kendra and Mr Khurshid A Wagay, District Cultural Officer, Shopian in their addresses emphasized on the importance of eggs in our diets, and need for a science based backyard poultry farming for improving rural livelihoods and nutritional security. Dr Mir Shabir and Dr Mumtaz A Ganai, Scientists of the Kendra moderated the sessions. Dr Bilal A Pandit presented the vote of thanks. The celebrations ended with the message and pledge of eating eggs for the day and in future for sound health. (KNS)
