Srinagar, Sep 21 (KNS): A massive three hour traffic jam was witnessed along Srinagar-Baramulla highway during the morning hours after authorities blocked the vital link for road macadamisation leaving the patients, employees and other passengers in hardships.
According to KNS correspondent, thousands of vehicles were stuck on the national highway during the morning hours as the authorities had started macadamisation of the road.
“We have a very simple point to make. Is it a common sense to go for macadamisation during the day? They could have done it in the night. See the patients, ambulances are stranded,” said angry locals.
A local, Aijaz Ahmed said, it took him three hours to reach Handwara from Pattan. “It was chaos. I want to ask the Works Minister Naeem Akhtar that in which part of globe the macadamisation is done in the morning hours that too on a national highway,” he said.
While the traffic jam prevailed for hours, the employees reached their offices late, students missed their classes and patients hardly made it to the hospitals on time, said the angry commuters.
Talking to KNS, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Khan said the night temperatures have dipped, so the macadamisation can’t be done in the nights now. (KNS)
