Srinagar, July 26 (KNS): Following clampdown of cellular services, the Kashmiri students studying outside are continuously pleading before the state administration to restore the services in the Valley soon.
Students, businessmen and employees who are currently outside Jammu and Kashmir said that they are unable to contact their families.
“I am worried about my family. I have no information about them after the mobile service was shut,” said Waqar Ahmad of Baramulla. Ahmad studies in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.
“After the unrest in the valley, I have not talked to my family. My family must be worried about me,” said another student.
“By not restoring mobile phone service in the valley the authorities are adding miseries to our lives ,” said Faheem Ahmad, who is working in New Delhi in a private company.
The government has provided helpline numbers at Deputy Commissioners and asked the people t o contact them for assistance.
Only BSNL post-paid SIM and landline services are working in the Valley. Private cellular services have been clamped down in the ongoing unrest to “prevent rumour-mongering”.
“But how can we call DCs and ask them to take mobile phones to our families. It is not possible for DCs too,” they said. (KNS)
