Regional parties up for a challenge if BJP comes to power in centre: Bhat

Srinagar, May 22 (KNS): With all eyes on election results at National level, pro-dialogue and pro-autonomy leadership in Kashmir is up for a challenge if election throws up BJP-led NDA government at the centre, says senior PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat.

In a statement issued to KNS, Bhat said it will be interesting to watch how different regional parties conduct themselves against committed BJP to review and abrogate constitutional provisions guaranteeing the special status to J&K.

Bhat said divided as they are, they may find it difficult to assert and or pre-empt any erosions and onslaught.

“So far all of them have miserably failed to make a common cause and stall any ordinances or amendments impacting special provisions. Divided as they remain they will find themselves further disarrayed,” he said.

Bhat said local results in any situation will have no meaning as far as strengthening pro-Kashmir discourse is concerned.

He said one hopes that the protagonists here need to build a strong idiom that will instill confidence in the people who seem to be dismayed and suffer from a crisis of faith. (KNS)
