Nagrota, Feb 19 (KNS): National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana on Monday called for synergized and collective efforts for transforming the landscape of Nagrota Assembly Constituency, saying developmental agencies had to play a pivotal role in this regard.
“The executing agencies of various departments must redouble their efforts in ensuring utility services in order to ease life of the people”, Rana said while inaugurating a public park at Marh Panchayat in the Constituency this afternoon. The funds for developing this public facility have been provided out of his Constituency Development Fund.
Rana elaborately dwelt upon the scope of development across the constituency, being strategically located on the national highway and in the immediate vicinity of the capital city, saying Nagrota has potential to come up as most vibrant extension of Greater Jammu.
“This aspect should not lose the sight of policy planners while tailoring various schemes for the constituency”, he said, hoping that a holistic approach would lead to all round transformation of the area, which is already a hub of academic institutions, sports infrastructure and economic activities. These are needed to be phased out with futuristic planning, he added.
Rana said alongside developing Nagrota as a model constituency, the pace of ongoing works is needed to be stepped up to have the benefits of these percolated down to targeted segments of society in stipulated time frame. Delays generally negate the purpose of schemes and this is needed to be kept in mind while executing projects, he said adding that he has been monitoring various programmes on regular basis, keeping in consideration the feedback and inputs of the people.
The MLA said that Nagrota is craving for development and being rural based constituency, the PHE, Irrigation, Health and above all Rural Development in particular had to play a pro-active and leading role in assuaging urges and aspirations of the people. He said roads are needed to be accorded priority, as entire economic and farm activity is dependent on better communication network. He also urged the Irrigation and Agriculture Departments to make advance arrangements for meeting requirements of the farming community during the next cropping season. Similarly, he sought up-gradation of the health services by plugging staff and diagnostic deficiencies besides regulated power and drinking water supply.
Interacting with the people assembled on the occasion, the Provincial President said that his mission to transform Nagrota is getting strengthened each passing day with residents reposing their faith in him. He said he has endeavoured in his own humble way all these years to put the constituency on fast track development and the results are before the people.
“In fact, the people of the area have become his companions in the developmental odyssey, which has seen the constituency traversing on the path of progress and development”, he maintained.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Aijaz Jan Provincial President Youth National Conference, Som Nath Khajuria, Kuldeep Singh Jamwal besides ex-sarpanches and Panches of the area. (KNS)
