Magisterial probe underway, police investigation also initiated: Police

Srinagar, Mar 19 (KNS): A youth from Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district died in custody on Tuesday in Srinagar while as police has launched investigation into the matter.
A youth identified as Rizwan Pandit, 28, a resident of Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, working as a school teacher was arrested some days ago in pursuance of a militancy case investigation.
Rizwan was picked up by the security agencies three days ago. However, he died in custody today.
Meanwhile, police in a statement issued to KNS said that a magisterial inquiry over the death of a private school teacher in underway.
Spokesman said that Rizwan, a suspect was arrested in pursuance of a militancy case investigation was in police custody where he died. “In this matter while following the procedure laid down in section 176 of crpc a magisterial enquiry is underway,” he said.
“Separately, police investigation has also been initiated in the jurisdictional area of incident,” police said. (KNS)
