Private Schools eager to start remedial classes, DSEK wants conditions to set first

Srinagar, Jan 28 (KNS): Private schools have approached the Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) to start remedial classes in their respective institutions during winter vacation.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Chairman Private Schools Association G N Var said it is optional and not compulsory for students enrolled in different schools to attend these remedial classes.
“We are surprised, why they don’t issue order.  Authorities raid our institutions. Where will our children go? If some school is running coaching centre, what is wrong in that. Private schools in Delhi utilise their infrastructure for coaching. Why they don’t allow it here. We have already lost much of our academic session due to disturbance last year,” he told KNS.
When KNS contacted Director School Education Kashmir Muhammad Younis Malik, he said that they will first decide the conditions of running remedial classes in these private institutions.
“Parents are apprehensive that school administration will charge fee from them. We already offer free coaching in Govt schools,” he told KNS.
Notably, in 2017, DSEK had allowed private schools to run remedial classes during the winter vacation subject to some conditions. The conditions include the remedial/ supplementary teaching is carried out with prior consent of the parents and should be on voluntary basis, No extra tuition fee is charged from students at all.
“The supplementary teaching programme is started not before 18th December 2017 and there should be appropriate heating arrangements in the class rooms for which heating charges @ Rs 300 / upto class 8th and Rs 400 from class 9th to 12th for the session shall be charged. The remedial xlass work shall be conducted between 10: 30 A (KNS).
