Srinagar, Nov 21 (KNS): Doctors Association Kashmir President, Dr Suhail Naik showed anguish and resentment over misbehavior meted upon by a police officer to a lady doctor. Our colleague was travelling in her personal vehicle to attend duties on Saturday morning and one of the police officer near Cement bridge , Qamarwari intercepted and asked “where she is going?, as the area is under curfew”.
The said doctor as per the statement issued to KNS politely responded that she is going to join emergency duty. Upon hearing this reply the police officer became furious and hurled the choicest abuses upon her, which has demoralized the female doctor and who is in state of shock. The said doctor is in mental agony since then and is unable to concentrate on her duties due to this unwarranted and uncalled for behavior by the said police officer.
Ina statement issued to KNS, DAK demanded that Women Rights Commission should take cognizance of this unprofessional behavior by a police officer and higher officers must start stringent departmental action.
Dr Naik further said that the health department comes under essential services and it is very deplorable that police who is there to facilitate our movement during curfew is resorting to such type of erratic behavior.
DAK stresses upon the Director General of Police to intervene in the said matter so that such incidents will not be repeated in future. He further stressed upon that Identity Cards of health employees should be considered as Curfew Passes. (KNS)
