Police arrests two drug peddlers in Handwara


Srinagar, Mar 02 (KNS): Two persons allegedly involved in drug peddling were arrested by the police in Handwara, an official said on Monday.
Police said Ab Majeed resident of Kralgund was apprehended and 1 kg and 100 grams of charas like substance wrapped in the maize covers and one digital weighing machine were recovered from his possession.
Police has filed an FIR No. 10/2020 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act against him in Police Station Kralgund and started investigation.
In another incident, police said a naka was laid at Adoora Bridge in the jurisdiction of Police Station Qalamabad.
“During checking, three persons were intercepted in suspicious circumstance who on seeing the naka party tried to escape from the spot and one of them was apprehended and two others fled away from the spot,” the police said in a statement issued to KNS.
Police have identified the apprehended person as Ashiq Hussain War of Chak Adoora and during his personal search 200 gm charas has been recovered from his possession.
The other two persons who fled from the spot were identified by police as Tanveer Ahmad War of Chak Adoora Qalamabad and Sajad Ahmad War of Lach Mawar.
Police said, a Case FIR NO. 09/2020 U/s 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Qalamabad and investigation taken up.
Handwara Police has appealed general public to co-operate in sharing all information related to drug abuse so the curative steps can be initiated, statement said. (KNS).
